Digital blocks to support construction sector

Leading digital design and products agency NE6 is strengthening its presence in the built environment and construction services industry by developing bespoke tools to drive business efficiency.

The Newcastle agency – founded by Steven Symonds and Steven Gibbons – has built a strong, skilled team that prides itself on thinking creatively to produce digital products that resolve client problems.

The agency is developing strong credentials in several areas from recruitment, to med-tech to housing and the broader construction sector.
Director Steven Symonds said: “While we still design and build websites, we’re increasingly becoming a digital products studio.

“The benefits of integrating a digital product or platform into your business can have a huge impact on how that company operates. Whether time-saving, cost-saving, better customer service/engagement, all of this can be achieved by fully understanding how good product design can solve all those problems.”

A good current example is the work NE6 is developing for project management consultancy Stature London. The London client wanted a better way to manage costs on large, complex construction and refurbishment projects.

Steven Gibbons, NE6 director, explained: “Stature recognised it was inefficient working in traditional spread sheets, and they wanted to provide more of their clients with real-time access to data and costs. With large building projects it’s critical to manage and monitor escalating costs.

“We have started developing a digital cost management product for Stature that will provide visibility and clarity to their clients, allowing them to identify and see where money is being spent along with any change requests.”

Another ongoing example of a bespoke digital solution NE6 is working on is Quado; a curated database that aims to revolutionise the architectural design process by helping architects and interior designers find trusted suppliers quickly.

Steven Gibbons explained the NE6 team were delivering both projects through the agile working methodology.

He said: “We have built a really strong team of skilled developers who are able to design and create a broad range of digital products. We’re now developing products from start to finish. Our agile processes offer clients a flexible way of working.”
